The Rover Gateway Setup Wizard will walk you through the installation process. Once the Rover Gateway software has been installed, you will need to register and activate your Rover Gateway prior to use. The following guide illustrates the installation and registration process.
The Rover Gateway software can be installed on
To install as a service you must run the install as an administrator.

Select ‘Next’ to continue the installation.

Select ‘I Agree’ to continue the installation.

Select 'Install' to continue the installation.

The Rover Gateway has been successfully installed. The Rover Gateway service is set to automatically run every time you start the PC.
Select ‘Finish’ to complete the installation. The Rover Gateway service will automatically start after installation if the “Start Rover Gateway now” option is selected.
To verify the Rover Gateway service is running or to configure the service settings start Microsoft Services Management Console. Run "services.msc" to start the Services Management Console.

The Rover Gateway Service can also be started and stopped by using the shortcuts provided in the Rover Gateway Start Menu.

Before using the Rover Gateway you will need to register and activate your Rover Gateway. The registration and activation is done through your browser.
Step 1, Register your gateway, will run automatically the first time you start the Rover Gateway Management Console. The console runs automatically if you selected to start the Rover Gateway service at the end of the install. If you did not select this option you can use the "Manage Rover Gateway" shortcut in the Rover Gateway Start Menu.
If the console fails to load check the Microsoft Services Management Console to verigy the Rover Gatway service is running. The most likely reason the console fails to load is that the service took longer than usual to load and the console timed out waiting for the service to respond. If the service is running simply try to reload the Rover Gateway Console. If the Rover Gateway service will not start follow these trouble shooting instructions:
Sorry, but the Rover Gateway control panel doesn't seem to be available.
Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.
net start rovergateway
If it starts successfully, or Windows reports that the service is already running, try the control panel again.
Once the Rover Gateway service starts you are ready to register your gateway. If you are upgrading a gateway to a newer version you do not need to register again.
When you start the Control Panel it performs a test to make sure the Rover Gateway can connect to RoverLink. If there are any problem with the connection you will see this screen.

If your server connect to the Internet through a proxy server you will need to fill out the proxy setting to allow the Rover Gateway to connect through the proxy server. If you are not sure if you connect through a proxy server or do not know the proxy server address try running the scout utility for more information. More information on Scout is available at, http://support.roverapps.com/entries/20580722-how-can-i-verify-my-server-can-connect-to-the-roverlink-relay-service.
If you do not have any connection problems you can register your gateway.

The email address used to register the Rover Gateway will recieve an activation code used to activate the gateway in the next step. The activation code is sent from notices@roverapps.com. Make sure your email does not block email from this account. If you do not receive an activation email shortly after registering your gateway make sure the email did not get moved to your junk or spam folder. If you still have not received the activation code create a support ticket with the email address and company name used to register the gateway.
Select ‘Continue’ to activate your gateway.

Enter the activation code sent to the admin e-mail account.
Enter the name of your gateway. This name will be shown to the mobile client to identify your Rover Gateway. For trial gateways it is recommended that you use your company name as part of the gateway name. It is also recommended that you use unique gateway names. The names do not have to be unique and can contain any name you want to identify your gateway. During the trial period it usually helps to follow these recommendations just to make discussions with the support team easier to manage. Once a gateway is ready to be moved into production the gateway name can be changed through the Rover Gateway Management Console.
Enter the relay hostname. This is the name that is used to identify your gateway on the RoverLink Relay Service. This name does have to be unique so using some combination of your company and department name is recommended. Multiple part names like "company.sales" will not work due to limitations in the SSL cert. If you need to seperate names in the relay hostname use a "-" instead of a ".". So, "company-sales" would be a valid hostname.
Select ‘Continue’ to activate your gateway.

Your Rover Gateway is now registered and activated.
Select ‘Continue’ to manage your Rover Gateway.

Congratulations! Your Rover Gateway is up and running. The Rover Gateway Control Panel lets you manage your site content and users. You can access the Rover Gateway control panel at any time by selecting "Manage Rover Gateway" from the Rover Gateway Start Menu or by typing http://localhost:1456 in your browser address bar. The Rover Gateway Management Console runs in your browser.
For more information on using the Rover Gateway Control Panel see the Rover Gateway Configuration section of the User Guide.
The gateway can provide contact/support information about your gateway to the client. The Rover Gateway Data Directory contains a file named "support.html". This information is shown to the client if the user selects the blue chevron to the right of the Gateway Name in the sites list

Selecting the blue chevron flips the page to show the "back of page" support information included in the support.html file.

The Gateway Admin should include support/contact information to help users if they are having any problems with your gateway. Simply edit the support.html file located in your Rover Gateway Data Directory to include your specific support and contact information. The template in the Rover Gateway Program Files directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Rover Gateway\resources) may be a better template to start with if you are upgrading from an older gateway version. Check each template to determine which you want to use as a starting point for your gateway specific information. The file located in your Data Directory is returned to the client when support information is requested. This file will not be replaced by the install program when you upgrade to a new version of the gateway.
If you haven’t done so already, install Rover Retriever on your iPhone or iPad and log in using the email address and password defined for your user account. For more information on using the Rover Retriever see Retrieving Your First Data in the User Guide.
